AMBER Alert Issued for Utah Brothers Will and Wesley Richman as Father Dane Richman Allegedly Flees Toward Mexico
AMBER Alert issued for missing Utah brothers Will and Wesley Richman after police say father Dane Richman may have fled to Mexico
An urgent international search is underway after authorities issued an AMBER Alert for two young brothers from Utah who investigators say were taken by their father following a scheduled custody exchange in Saratoga Springs. Law enforcement agencies across multiple jurisdictions are now working together amid growing concerns for the safety and wellbeing of the children as officials believe they may have been taken across the United States border into Mexico.
According to investigators, 46-year-old Dane Stephen Richman allegedly failed to return 22-month-old Will Richman and 10-month-old Wesley Richman after a planned custody exchange. Authorities say the disappearance triggered an immediate investigation as family members and law enforcement began searching for signs of where the father and children may have traveled after leaving Utah.
Police believe the disappearance may have involved extensive preparation over several weeks. Investigators stated that Richman had reportedly quit his job, experienced financial difficulties, sold personal belongings, and appeared to abandon his residence before vanishing with the children. Court documents also reportedly indicate he missed a scheduled custody-related deposition and dismissed his attorney shortly before the children disappeared.
Authorities say investigators used surveillance footage, cellphone activity, and vehicle records to trace Richman’s movements. Officials reported that his vehicle was serviced in Carlsbad, California, near the U.S.-Mexico border on May 18, and later cellphone data allegedly placed him near the border area before investigators believe he crossed into Mexico with the children.
Family members reportedly told investigators that Richman owns a satellite phone and has experience living in remote conditions, increasing concerns among authorities that he may attempt to remain hidden for an extended period of time. Officials say those factors have complicated ongoing search efforts and heightened urgency surrounding the AMBER Alert investigation.
Will Richman and Wesley Richman are both described as having blonde hair and blue eyes. Authorities describe Dane Richman as approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing around 195 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Investigators believe they may be traveling in a black 2025 Toyota Camry bearing Utah license plate A561HL.
The children’s mother, Lizzie Tomich, has publicly pleaded for the safe return of her sons as law enforcement agencies continue coordinating efforts across state and international boundaries. Community members have also shared alerts and information online in hopes of helping investigators locate the missing children as quickly as possible.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has information related to the whereabouts of Dane Richman, Will Richman, or Wesley Richman to immediately contact law enforcement. Investigators emphasize that public awareness can play an important role in missing child cases and continue asking the public to remain alert while the international search effort remains active and ongoing.
