Paulsboro NJ Lethal Shooting: Gunman Active, Two Lives Lost, One Person Hurt as Officials Look Into Fatal Domestic Situation
Authorities are still probing a deadly shooting that took place on Saturday at a home on Elizabeth Avenue in Paulsboro, as reported by representatives from the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
Law enforcement was called to the residence after receiving alerts about gunfire. Once they reached the location, officers found several individuals inside the home who had suffered gunshot wounds. Two individuals were declared dead at the scene. Investigators suspect that a man shot his wife and daughter before taking his own life. The man was confirmed deceased at the site.
A second victim was also confirmed dead at the scene. Officials have stated that another individual survived the ordeal despite receiving a gunshot wound to her torso. She was taken to a local hospital for medical attention. Updates on her condition have not yet been provided.
The area at the intersection of Cook Street and Elizabeth Avenue was shut down for several hours as investigators worked to secure the site and gather evidence. Various law enforcement agencies have responded and continue to participate in the ongoing investigation.
The event has left the local community in disbelief. Neighbors characterized the family as gracious, amiable, and well-recognized within the neighborhood. Many residents recalled how the family often greeted others and were known for their friendly nature, making the incident particularly hard for those nearby.
Authorities have yet to disclose the names of the victims as they continue to notify family members. Rebecca Forand, spokesperson for the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, mentioned that further information will be shared as it becomes accessible.
