The Pomeroy Fire Department is grieving the sudden and unexpected loss of Senior Firefighter Brentten Young, Unit 26, whose commitment, guidance, and contributions profoundly affected both the department and the community he served with loyalty.
Brentten became a part of the Pomeroy Fire Department as a junior firefighter on October 4, 2015. From that moment, he dedicated himself fully to the protection and service of others. Throughout the years, he developed into a reliable and active member of the department, dedicating countless hours to professional service and gaining the admiration of his fellow firefighters. Due to his perseverance, commitment, and deep knowledge of the department, Brentten advanced through the ranks, eventually becoming one of the most respected and skilled firefighters at Station 1.
To honor his dedication, integrity, and leadership, Brentten was chosen by his colleagues to take on the role of lieutenant during the 2024–2025 election term. Even when the department later reduced the number of officers, he continued to serve with selflessness and steadfast commitment to his responsibilities.
