Authorities have confirmed the identities of the two individuals discovered deceased in an Adelanto residence Saturday evening and stated that the case is being treated as a murder-suicide, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. This heartbreaking event has left relatives, friends, and the surrounding community grappling with the circumstances that led to the tragic loss of two young lives.

The deceased were named as Tyreek Moore, 23, who lived in Adelanto, and Shyla Powell, 22, hailing from Lancaster. Deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station arrived at a medical assistance request around 9:40 p.m. on December 20, 2025, at a location on Bonanza Road. Upon entering the home, deputies found both Moore and Powell with gunshot wounds.

Paramedics were called to the location; however, both victims were declared dead at the scene. Deputies promptly secured the area and alerted investigators due to the circumstances of the event. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, which includes the Homicide Detail, responded to take charge of the inquiry to ascertain the events that led to the fatal shooting.

Investigators stated that earlier in the day, Moore and Powell had been engaged in a verbal dispute. Detectives have not disclosed specifics surrounding the cause of the confrontation or the precise nature of their relationship, but they indicated that the argument intensified over time. During the investigation, officials discovered a firearm in proximity to Moore, which was crucial in understanding the sequence of events.

After evaluating the evidence from the site, interviewing witnesses, and looking into the details surrounding the fatalities, investigators reached the conclusion that the incident was a murder-suicide. The remains of both Moore and Powell were taken to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office to undergo further analysis and official determination regarding the cause and manner of death. Currently, no other suspects are being pursued.

The sheriff’s department has not confirmed whether there have been prior service calls to the residence or any recorded history of domestic conflicts involving the parties. Authorities report that the investigation is still ongoing as detectives continue to analyze evidence and ensure that every detail of the case is thoroughly documented.
