Hanlon was driving her 2017 Toyota Highlander eastbound between exits 58 and 59 in Ronkonkoma when she lost control of the vehicle just before noon, according to Suffolk County Police. Her SUV struck a guardrail, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The eastbound lanes were temporarily closed for approximately an hour as detectives investigated the single-vehicle crash. No other vehicles were involved.

Pamela Hanlon was a respected real estate agent with Signature Premier Properties and a devoted mother of two. Her husband, Ken Hanlon, shared an emotional tribute on social media:

"I can’t believe I am writing this…. Today my beautiful wife of 33 years was in a horrible car accident and passed away this morning. You have left a huge void in my life that will always be there. I can’t believe retirement is finally upon us and we won’t get to see/do all those things we talked about. Thank you from the bottom of my heart… Please watch over me and the kids."

The incident was one of two accidents reported on the LIE that day. Earlier, a separate crash involved a stolen Corvette driven by an intoxicated motorist, who was treated and taken into custody.
