Walcha Motorcycle Rally Accident Causes Injuries to 13 When Demolition Derby Car Runs Into Audience

 Thirteen individuals were hospitalized following an incident where a vehicle veered off course during the Demolition Derby at the Walcha Motorcycle Rally, colliding with attendees at the Walcha Showground on Saturday night.



According to NSW Ambulance, eleven individuals experienced minor injuries, while two others incurred serious injuries that are not life-threatening. All those taken to the hospital are reported to be adults.

Emergency teams from SES, Fire and Rescue NSW, and NSW Ambulance were pre-positioned at the event and quickly reacted, providing initial medical treatment and assisting in the sorting of those injured.

Initial reports from the site indicated that there could have been around 20 injuries, with six individuals potentially in critical condition. Clarity regarding the situation was achieved after paramedics concluded their evaluations.

The accident prompted a significant emergency response, involving the deployment of two helicopters, several ambulance teams, SES members, fire fighters, and nurses stationed at the event to provide help.

Local Member of Parliament Brendan Moylan recognized the gravity of the situation, stating in an official release:

“A grave incident occurred at the Walcha Motorcycle Rally this evening. I have been informed that a vehicle participating in the demolition derby crashed into a group of spectators, resulting in several injuries. Emergency personnel are presently at the location offering immediate aid. I will provide more updates as soon as reliable details become accessible. Officials have not disclosed information regarding how the vehicle exited the track or whether the event will proceed as planned.

Investigations into the details surrounding the accident are currently underway.
