Slidell Remembers 5-Year-Old Carson Lawson Following Heartbreaking Driveway Incident; Grandmother Taken into Custody for Fatal Vehicle Offense

 A 33-year-old woman, who was expectant, lost her life along with her unborn child as a result of being hit in a multi-vehicle collision in the north-west of Sydney, and a teenage driver has been charged by the police in relation to the event.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday (14 November 2025) following notifications that a pedestrian was struck near the entrance of a parking area on George Street, Hornsby.

Authorities assert that a BMW, operated by 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu, collided with the back of a Kia Carnival, propelling the Kia into the woman as she was walking alongside her husband and their three-year-old son.

Paramedics from NSW Ambulance provided assistance to the woman, who was eight months along in her pregnancy, before transporting her to Westmead Hospital in a critical state. In spite of the medical intervention, both she and her unborn child passed away shortly thereafter.

The operators of the BMW and Kia, a 48-year-old male, did not sustain injuries. Both were subjected to mandatory testing. No passengers were present in either vehicle.

Officials from the Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command set up a crime scene, and the Collision Investigation Unit carried out a comprehensive forensic review during the night.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. Saturday (15 November 2025), authorities apprehended Papazoglu at a residence on Millewa Avenue in Wahroonga. He was taken to the Hornsby Police Station and faced charges of:

The police indicated that the teenager, who possesses a provisional driving license, could receive a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.

Papazoglu was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.

The husband of the woman and their young son, who witnessed the incident, were not physically harmed but received treatment at the scene due to shock.

Ongoing inquiries into the factors leading to the accident are being conducted. Authorities are appealing to witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage recorded on George Street around 8 p.m. on Friday to reach out to Crime Stoppers.
