Bob Hudson, a popular Blackpool resident, battled bravely until his death after suffering a stroke earlier this year. With his warm grin, unmatched sense of humor, and passion for teaching, Bob transformed the lives of many individuals as a dedicated swimming instructor and mentor.
Bob's involvement with Active Blackpool began during his own cardiac recovery, when he decided to improve his own health and discovered his calling in helping others. Over the years, Bob became an important part of the aquatic community, helping kids of all ages to become more confident in the water. His infectious enthusiasm, unique flair, and ability to make everyone feel welcome made him truly special.
Outside of the pool, Bob was a devoted husband to Helen and a devoted friend to many. He was well known for his friendliness, resilience, and persistence, and he was always willing to help those around him.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Bob, including the Active Blackpool family, is extremely grieved by his departure. His love of swimming, his students, and his town will live on through the countless lives he impacted.
Friends, colleagues, and swimmers are encouraged to "carry on swimming for Bob"—keep spreading his passion for the water—in honor of Bob.
May his light, laughter, and vitality inspire everyone who steps onto the pool deck for years to come.
