Authorities confirmed that John F. Sheppard Jr., also known as SBL Jitt, and Tyshawn D. Walker, also known as Ty5, were taken into custody during the multi‑agency effort. Investigators say Sheppard is believed to be a leader of GLO, while Walker is identified as a member of the same group.

The operation, which involved multiple agencies working together, led to the recovery of approximately 23 pounds of marijuana, two firearms, and $2,220 in cash. A trained K9 unit assisted in locating evidence, helping officers secure the contraband.

Both men were transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, where they face multiple felony charges tied to drug trafficking, firearms violations, and gang activity. In addition, Sheppard faces further charges related to traffic and impairment offenses.

Officials emphasized that the arrests represent a major step in disrupting gang‑related activity in Augusta. The Gang of Lake Olmstead has been under investigation for its alleged involvement in organized crime, drug distribution, and violence in the community. By targeting leadership figures, authorities hope to weaken the group’s influence and reduce its ability to operate.

Community members expressed relief at the news, noting that the removal of such a large amount of marijuana and firearms helps improve safety in local neighborhoods. Law enforcement leaders praised the cooperation between agencies, stressing that joint operations are essential in tackling gang networks that often span multiple jurisdictions.

The arrests also highlight the role of specialized units, including K9 teams, in detecting hidden evidence and supporting officers during high‑risk operations. Officials said the success of Tuesday’s effort demonstrates the effectiveness of combining resources and expertise across agencies.

As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to pursue additional leads connected to GLO’s activities. Prosecutors will now prepare to bring charges against Sheppard and Walker, with both men facing potentially lengthy prison sentences if convicted.
