Kourtney Jackson Early on Sunday morning, a 20-year-old Allenhurst woman died in a head-on collision on Highway 84 in Liberty County

 A young Allenhurst woman died in a horrific accident that transformed a peaceful Sunday morning into tragedy.

The Georgia State Patrol reports that a 20-year-old Allenhurst woman, later identified as Kortney Jackson, died in a head-on collision around 6:00 a.m. Sunday. Near Liberty County High School, the accident took place at the crossing of U.S. 84/GA 38 and John Martin Road.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Christopher Cronsell said witnesses said Jackson was driving a 2016 Honda Civic westbound in the eastbound lane when it hit a 2025 Genesis GV70 head-on.

Emergency personnel hurried to the site. Jackson was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville and was declared dead later on as a result of injuries she got in the crash.

Identified as an adult male, the Genesis GV70's driver was taken to Savannah's Memorial Health University Medical Center. According to officials, he was awake and attentive while in transit.

As law enforcement looked into the accident extensively, U.S. 84/GA 38 was shut off for many hours. The Georgia State Patrol is still examining the conditions of the accident.
