Following claims of a big battle in the 700 block of High Street close to Hawkins Drive, a major police and emergency reaction transpired on Thursday in Chestertown.
Initial reports stated that Chestertown Police, together with EMS and fire teams, were sent to the area amid allegations that possible shots were fired. Officers secured the scene and started looking around for those implicated in the disturbance upon arrival.
Emergency medical professionals attended at least one individual at the scene. Radio communication showed the person's wounds had no link to shooting. For further assessment, that person was later brought to a nearby medical clinic.
Update 3:24 p.m.: Authorities confirmed arrests made in relation to the investigation. Remaining emergency units are standing down since EMS teams have now cleared the scene.
Authorities are still looking into the events around the incident. As the probe continues, residents and drivers are asked to stay clear of the area. Traffic has been rerouted.
As more information emerges, the Chestertown Police Department is likely to disclose more specifics.
