TEXAS — Actor Rudy Youngblood, best known for his breakout role as Jaguar Paw in Mel Gibson’s Oscar‑nominated 2006 film Apocalypto, has been arrested in Texas on a felony substance charge.
Authorities confirmed that Youngblood was taken into custody Thursday after officers discovered an active warrant filed in Bell County the day before. He was booked into the Henderson County Jail for possession of a controlled substance in an amount between 1 gram and 4 grams. Under Texas law, the charge is a felony that carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison and a fine of $10,000.
According to City of Brownsboro Police Chief Scott Myntti, Youngblood was initially pulled over for speeding. When officers ran his license, they discovered the outstanding warrant. He was cuffed and booked without incident and remained in custody as of Friday morning.
This latest arrest adds to a growing list of legal troubles for the actor. In October 2025, Youngblood was arrested for assaulting a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation. He also faced charges of disorderly intoxication in Miami in 2017, though those charges were later dropped.
Despite his legal issues, Youngblood has continued to work in film. In recent years, he appeared in projects such as The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine (2023) and Dandelion Season (2021). He was also cast in the period drama La Matadora last year and reportedly has several upcoming projects in development.
Youngblood’s arrest has sparked renewed attention on his career trajectory, from his critically acclaimed performance in Apocalypto to his struggles with the law. While his role as Jaguar Paw remains a defining moment in his career, his repeated run‑ins with authorities have overshadowed his work in recent years.
The case is expected to move forward in Bell County, where prosecutors will determine the next steps. For now, Youngblood remains behind bars as fans and industry insiders await updates on both his legal situation and his future in entertainment.
