Viera High School Football Standout Brian Moss Dies in Brevard County Crash

The Viera High School community is mourning the tragic loss of Brian Moss, a 16-year-old freshman football player who died in a car crash early Christmas Eve in Brevard County, according to school and community officials.

Moss, a member of the Viera Hawks football program, was part of the Class of 2029 and had already made a significant impact on the varsity level despite his young age. Coaches and teammates described him as an exceptional athlete, dedicated student, and uplifting presence both on and off the field.

Head coach Tony Gulla honored Moss as a “remarkable kid and outstanding student,” noting that he had recently received Varsity Specialty Player of the Year recognition. Gulla said Moss’ talent, work ethic, and character set him apart, adding that the locker room “won’t be the same” without him, but his spirit will continue to inspire the team.

The Suntree Viera Youth Football League, where Moss previously played, also released a statement remembering him as a “talented young athlete” and a “beloved part of our community.” The league praised his passion for the game, positive energy, and the joy he brought to teammates and coaches throughout his football journey.

The Church at Viera, which has ties to the Moss family, confirmed the tragedy just hours before its Christmas Eve service. Church leaders described the community as “heartbroken” and asked members to keep the Moss family in their prayers during the holiday season.

Tributes quickly poured in across social media from classmates, friends, and members of the local sports community. Many remembered Moss for his encouraging attitude, leadership beyond his years, and the pride he took in representing Viera High School and the Hawks football program.

School officials said details regarding memorials and tributes honoring Moss’ life and legacy will be announced in the coming days. The Viera High community continues to rally around the family, offering support as they grieve the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
