Tatyana Remley, a San Diego-based equestrian whose name became nationally known following a high-profile murder-for-hire case, died Thursday night after an apparent suicide, according to law enforcement sources. She was 44 years old.
Authorities confirmed that Remley was found deceased outside a bar in San Diego and that her death resulted from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. Officials have not released additional details as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death continues.
Remley first drew widespread public attention in 2023 when she was arrested and charged with solicitation of murder in connection with an alleged plot to have her estranged husband, Mark Remley, killed. Prosecutors said the case stemmed from a contentious divorce and financial disputes tied to a failed multimillion-dollar horse show business venture.
According to court records, Remley met with an undercover detective in August 2023, believing him to be a hired hitman. Investigators alleged that during the meeting, she provided specific instructions regarding how she wanted her husband killed and arrived with both firearms and cash as an initial payment. Authorities later seized the weapons and arrested her shortly after the meeting.
Remley ultimately pleaded guilty to charges of solicitation to commit murder and possession of an unregistered firearm. She was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison and had been held without bail following her arrest. She was recently released as part of her plea agreement before her death.
Known within equestrian circles, Remley had previously maintained a high-profile lifestyle, often sharing images on social media of horseback riding, competitions, and luxury events. Her case drew significant media coverage due to the contrast between her public image and the serious criminal allegations she faced.
Law enforcement officials have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public and that the investigation into her death remains active. No further information has been released at this time.
