A confrontation over a noise complaint turned deadly early Sunday morning on San Antonio’s West Side, leaving one man dead and another facing a murder charge, according to local authorities.
San Antonio police said the shooting occurred around 5:15 a.m. on December 21 in the 300 block of Cincinnati Avenue, near Fredericksburg Road. Investigators reported that Paul Flores went to a nearby residence to confront tenants about loud noise coming from the property.
What began as a verbal exchange quickly escalated into a physical altercation, police said. The dispute reportedly moved from the front yard into the street, where Flores allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at another man. The victim was struck several times in the body.
Responding officers found the man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds and immediately rendered emergency aid. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Friends and family later identified the victim as Edward Trejo. A GoFundMe campaign created in his memory described Trejo as a person whose laughter, kindness, and love touched everyone who knew him.
“In this unimaginable time, we are coming together to support Edward’s family with funeral and related expenses, so they can honor his life with the dignity and love he so richly deserves,” the fundraiser stated.
Police arrested Flores at the scene without incident. He has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Bexar County jail records. His bond has been set at $200,000.
No additional injuries were reported, and authorities confirmed that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing.
