 The community of Athens is grieving the unfortunate death of 26-year-old Cole Anargyros, who lost his life early Thursday morning after suffering gunshot wounds on West Broad Street, mere blocks away from the University of Georgia campus.


As reported by the Athens-Clarke County Police, the emergency call was made just prior to 2:30 a.m., indicating shots fired close to the junction of West Broad Street and Pulaski Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Anargyros with several gunshot injuries. He was urgently taken to a nearby hospital; however, despite the medical team's efforts, he sadly did not survive his wounds.

Authorities have named 22-year-old Jamarioun Clark from Madison, Georgia, as the individual believed to be responsible for the deadly shooting. Clark, who has a criminal history, now faces charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, and violations related to firearms. Law enforcement officials have released an arrest warrant and are currently on the lookout for him.
