Authorities have ruled a deadly shooting inside an Adelanto home as a murder-suicide, leaving a man and a woman dead following a domestic dispute, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to a medical aid call around 9:40 p.m. on December 20, 2025, in the 10700 block of Bonanza Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Tyreek Moore, 23, of Adelanto, and Shyla Powell, 22, of Lancaster, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The case was taken over by the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail, which determined that Moore fatally shot Powell before turning the weapon on himself. A firearm was recovered near Moore’s body, supporting investigators’ findings.
Detectives said Moore and Powell were formerly in a relationship and shared children together but had since separated. Investigators learned the two had been involved in a verbal argument earlier in the day, which authorities believe escalated into the fatal confrontation later that evening.
Although Powell was a resident of Lancaster, the shooting occurred at a residence in Adelanto where the two were known to each other. No other individuals were injured during the incident, and authorities confirmed that no additional suspects are being sought.
Officials have not released further details regarding the nature of the dispute or what specifically led to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Law enforcement officials urged anyone experiencing domestic conflict to seek assistance and support before situations escalate into violence, emphasizing the devastating impact such incidents have on families and communities.
