Scott Langlois New Bedford Motorcycle Accident: New Bedford Man Killed in Late-Night Motorcycle Collision on Route 24 in Fall River

 Authorities are investigating a terrible motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a 51-year-old man from New Bedford late Tuesday night on Route 24. The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said that just after 10 p.m., Massachusetts State Police troops were dispatched to the scene near Exit 2. They arrived to find the biker resting on a patch of grass near the highway's crash barrier, and his motorcycle on the median of the off-ramp a few feet away.

Scott Langlois, 51, of New Bedford, was identified as the victim. Before being transported to a nearby hospital, emergency workers provided him with immediate medical assistance on the site. Despite their best efforts, Langlois died soon after the crash due to his injuries. Investigators are still trying to determine exactly what caused the incident, although officials said it appeared to be related to his motorcycle.

There were no signs of criminal activity or foul play, according to preliminary findings. Authorities temporarily closed and rerouted traffic on highway 24 as crash reconstruction teams conducted an on-site inspection, causing significant delays in the area until restoring the highway later that evening. The inquiry is being led by investigators from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section in collaboration with the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Detectives are looking at tire tracks, road conditions, and mechanical data to determine what caused the collision. They are also looking at local CCTV footage and talking to others to build a more accurate timeline of events.

Though preliminary findings suggest Langlois may have lost control of his motorcycle while traveling along the off-ramp, authorities have not confirmed that speed, road debris, or lighting conditions were among the contributing causes.

Authorities expressed their sympathies to Langlois' family and described the fatal collision as a heartbreaking reminder of the risks motorbike riders face. "Even expert riders are exposed to unanticipated perils," a police official said. "We advise all drivers to use caution, particularly at night when visibility is low."
