Following the tragic Akron shooting, 27-year-old Razeil Robinson is recalled as a "quiet, serene soul."

Razeil Robinson, 27, was sitting at a picnic table on Rosemary Boulevard when he was shot and killed Thursday morning. The shooting is being investigated by Akron Police homicide detectives.

Officers found Robinson with numerous gunshot wounds when they arrived at the 1000 block of Rosemary Boulevard at around 7 a.m. He was pronounced deceased at the spot.

Family members describe Robinson as a courteous, unassuming, and soft-spoken man.

His spirit was serene and at peace. I just do not see why they would do that to him. Why would they kill him? His mother, LaTasha Robinson, told News 5 that her son did nothing.

Her child struggled with mental health concerns, she explained, and usually only left the house to go grocery shopping or spend time with family. When she heard gunfire in the neighborhood on Wednesday night, she became concerned because she knew Razeil had left home earlier. A few hours later, police verified her worst suspicions.

Robinson had been sitting at a picnic table outside SMB International, a business he regularly frequented to smoke cigarettes and talk with staff, investigators discovered. He was shot while seated, fled a short distance, and then fell beside the company's sign, the police said.

As of right now, investigators have no suspects and no evidence that Robinson was targeted out for a specific reason.

"It is alarming because what we do know is that there is someone capable of perpetrating a crime like this still out on the loose," said Lt. Michael Murphy of Akron Police. He stated that police are looking for CCTV footage and other evidence in the neighborhood.

The Robinsons are now preparing to bury Razeil while demanding justice.

"All I want is for them to stay there and rot in jail, thinking about what you did and then wondering why you did what you did," his mother exclaimed.
