As reported by the coroner’s office, officers from the Rockford police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Rutger’s Place at approximately 9:30 p.m. on January 6, where they discovered 55-year-old Perry Brown with a gunshot injury. He was declared dead at the location.
On Wednesday, law enforcement officials reported the apprehension of 28-year-old Octavius Brown-Wilkes in relation to Brown's death. Officials also noted that another person sustained injuries during the event, although their identity and current health status have not been disclosed.
