Upon their arrival, they encountered a heartbreaking sight: a residence in flames, where 46-year-old Antwain Bates was discovered outside with a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, Bates was declared deceased at a local hospital.

Within the burning dwelling, authorities found Megan Runnels, aged 30, severely burned. She was swiftly flown to a medical center for care but tragically lost her life on January 12 due to her injuries.
