Kara was driving a 2005 Ford Escape in a westward direction when she lost control of her vehicle on a slippery curve. According to the troopers, the SUV veered off the road and rolled over several times before finally stopping off the highway.

At the moment of the accident, Kara was wearing her seat belt; however, despite the safety precautions, she sustained life-threatening injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. There were no other vehicles involved in the incident.
