The community of Auburndale, Wisconsin, is grieving the tragic death of Heather R. Nigh, 30, who tragically died in a deadly collision involving two vehicles on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident took place around 12:20 p.m. on December 31 at the crossroads of County Highway H and County Highway M. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department reported that Heather was riding in a car going east on County Highway H when it was hit by a northbound snowplow that did not stop at a designated stop sign.
Heather was declared dead at the site due to the extent of her injuries. Another passenger from the vehicle was taken to Marshfield Medical Center for medical care. The other people involved in the accident were identified as 26-year-old Jared D. Peters and 69-year-old Dennis R. Ross.
The ongoing inquiry is being led by the Wisconsin State Patrol, with support from Marshfield EMS, Auburndale Fire Department, first responders, the Wood County Coroner’s Office, and Nieman’s Towing.
