Leah Palmirotto Atlanta Death Notice, Reason for Passing: 19-Year-Old Female Passes Away Following a Plummet from a Vacant Structure in Atlanta
A 19-year-old female lost her life after plummeting from the rooftop of an unoccupied structure in Atlanta, which has previously been utilized as a setting for the Netflix production Stranger Things.
The victim was named Leah Palmirotto by the Atlanta police. The authorities stated that the fall took place at Briarcliff Building A, situated at 1256 Briarcliff Road. Palmirotto fell from the top of the building and was declared dead at the site. Investigations into the details surrounding the fall are ongoing.
Briarcliff Building A was initially built in the 1960s as a facility for mental health treatment and was taken over by Emory University in the 1990s. Over the years, Emory has included the building in a list of over 40 properties available for filmmakers. The webpage for the building was taken down on Friday, just after the incident.
The site is recognized for its depiction as Hawkins National Laboratory in the famous Netflix show Stranger Things, which filmed a significant portion of its episodes in the Atlanta vicinity. Its derelict condition and unique design have contributed to its popularity as a filming site.
Investigators are still looking into the event and are urging anyone who might have information regarding the details of the fall to reach out to Atlanta police. Additional information about Palmirotto’s actions prior to the fall has not been disclosed.
This occurrence brings attention to safety issues associated with abandoned structures, especially those that are accessible to the public or serve as filming sites. The background of Briarcliff Building A as a previous mental health facility and a filming venue has attracted scrutiny from local authorities and news outlets following the incident.
