GoFundMe Surpasses $10,000 for Family of Woman Fatally Stabbed at Barnes & Noble

A GoFundMe campaign for Rita B. Loncharich, 65, who was fatally stabbed at a Barnes & Noble in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, has raised over $10,000 to support her grieving family.

The tragic incident occurred on December 22, 2025, around 7:53 p.m., at the bookstore located on 11380 Legacy Avenue. Loncharich was reportedly stabbed in the back and transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where she was pronounced dead during surgery at 9:22 p.m.

Authorities quickly arrested 40-year-old Antonio R. Moore, approximately 1,500 feet from the scene. Moore faces first-degree premeditated murder charges and allegedly confessed to the attack. Officials stated there was no prior connection between Loncharich and Moore, who was described as a homeless man from Alabama with a history of mental illness, living in the area for only about a week.

Witnesses recounted chaos as Moore fled on foot, and investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the attack. Loncharich’s husband shared that she called him moments after being stabbed, highlighting the sudden and senseless nature of the tragedy.

The GoFundMe, titled “Support for Rita's Family After Tragedy,” aims to cover funeral expenses and help Loncharich’s husband and daughter navigate their grief. Donations have poured in from people across the country, touched by her sudden loss.

The fundraiser describes Loncharich as a loving mother and wife, emphasizing the void left by her passing:

"What should have been some holiday shopping turned into a moment that forever changed the lives of those who knew and loved her, most especially her husband and daughter."
