Nassau County police recently apprehended an illegal migrant couple who attempted to steal merchandise from a Target store in Westbury, Long Island. Authorities confirmed that the couple traveled from Manhattan specifically to commit the theft before being caught.
The suspects, 36-year-old Gustavo Tellez Carillo and 33-year-old Erika Gomez Moreno, were caught attempting to shoplift an undisclosed amount of items from the store on Sunday night, November 9, 2025. Police were called to the scene at approximately 7:30 p.m. and promptly detained the pair.
Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to officials. Authorities emphasized the importance of cooperation between local law enforcement and federal agencies in handling cases involving undocumented individuals and criminal activity.
