The town of Butler, Indiana, is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Ethan Michael Fike, a 19-year-old cherished by many who died on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Born on October 5, 2006, in Fort Wayne, Ethan was the beloved child of Shane and Amanda (Maberson) Fike. As a senior at Garrett High School, he was recognized not only for his academic achievements but also as a beacon of positivity, support, and motivation for everyone around him.
Ethan’s influence extended well beyond his academic life. His kindness, fidelity, and quiet resilience fostered lasting friendships and cultivated an atmosphere where everyone felt acknowledged and valued. He personified camaraderie, always uplifting others and ensuring that those in his presence felt they were significant.
Ethan’s faith was a central element of his existence. He was baptized and regularly participated in services at Corunna United Brethren in Christ Church, where his sincere concern for people and kindhearted nature left a significant impact on his community. He was recognized for his honesty, modesty, and the manner in which he held firm to his beliefs.
In addition to his devotion to spirituality and friendship, Ethan had a strong passion for athletics, particularly boxing, wrestling, and fitness. His commitment to these sports went beyond mere competition; it was about self-improvement, discipline, and resilience. As a wrestler, he competed with remarkable tenacity and sportsmanship. Regardless of the outcome, both peers and coaches respected him for his focus, courtesy, and the graceful manner in which he faced challenges.
Ethan’s joyful laughter and humor were contagious, and his talent for uplifting moods during difficult moments made him a priceless companion and teammate. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember his steadfast devotion to his family and community. His power stemmed from a profound sense of purpose and pride in his identity and beliefs.
Ethan is mourned by his father, Shane Fike of Butler; his sisters, Athena (engaged to Brady Long) Fike and Addison Fike, both residing in Butler; paternal grandparents Donald (and Brenda) Fike and Theresa Shisler; maternal grandparents David and Patricia Maberson; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Amanda Fike, who passed away in 2021.
Ethan’s visitation will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at County Line Church of God, located at 7716 North County Line Road E, Auburn. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., led by Pastor Gabe Pranger. Following the service, Ethan will be laid to rest at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett.
The Fike family has asked for memorial donations to help cover funeral costs. Ethan’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him—his family, friends, teammates, and members of the community will remember him as a fighter, a friend, and a remarkable embodiment of love, resilience, and strength.
Rest in peace, Ethan. Your absence will be profoundly felt, and you will always be remembered with great affection.
