Authorities are investigating a deadly three-vehicle crash in Kansas City, Kansas, that left a 74-year-old passenger dead and another man seriously injured following a high-speed collision involving a McLaren sports car.

Roger L. Stroble, 74, Dies in Kansas City Crash

The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victim as Roger L. Stroble, who died after being transported to KU Medical Center following the crash Wednesday evening. Officials said Stroble was a passenger in a McLaren 570S that was involved in a chain-reaction collision on Merriam Lane.

According to crash logs, the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. when the McLaren was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. Investigators said the sports car struck a Honda Accord that was attempting to turn north onto 34th Street, resulting in an angled impact that set off a multi-vehicle crash.

After hitting the Honda, the McLaren continued forward and collided with a Ford F-250. The force of the crash caused significant damage to all three vehicles, prompting a large emergency response from local authorities and medical personnel.

The driver of the McLaren, a 28-year-old man from Olathe, sustained serious injuries and was also transported to KU Medical Center for treatment. Authorities have not released his name as the investigation continues. The drivers of both the Honda Accord and the Ford F-250 were not injured in the crash.

Officials said Stroble, who was seated in the McLaren at the time of the collision, was later pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 5:45 p.m. despite emergency medical efforts. His next of kin has been notified, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances leading up to the crash, including the speed of the McLaren and the actions of all drivers involved. Authorities have not yet determined whether charges or citations will be issued as part of the ongoing investigation.

The fatal crash has raised renewed concerns about high-performance vehicles and speeding on public roads, particularly in busy traffic corridors where turning vehicles and through traffic intersect. Officials continue to urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to posted speed limits.

Kansas Highway Patrol says the investigation remains active as crash reconstruction teams work to fully determine how the sequence of events led to the deadly collision that claimed Stroble’s life.
