The devastating collision shocked neighbors along High Street and remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Hanson Police Chief Michael D. Casey, emergency crews were dispatched around 6:22 p.m. to a residence at 481 High Street after a homeowner reported that a truck had slammed into the front of the house. The violent impact caused major damage to the property and prompted an immediate response from police, firefighters, and medical personnel.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they discovered a Chevrolet pickup truck overturned onto its driver’s side after crashing through a large bay window at the front of the home. Authorities said the driver, later identified as 58-year-old Brian Crowley of Hanson, was trapped inside the wreckage and unconscious when crews reached the vehicle.
Firefighters launched an extensive extrication operation using hydraulic rescue equipment to carefully free Crowley from the heavily damaged pickup truck. The rescue effort lasted for an extended period as crews worked through twisted metal and unstable debris surrounding the vehicle inside the residence.
After being removed from the wreckage, Crowley was transported to Brockton Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency personnel and hospital staff, authorities confirmed that he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigators have not yet released information regarding what may have caused the pickup truck to crash into the home.
