With grief and heavy hearts, the Wink-Loving Independent School District and the Wink community mourn the terrible passing of Teagan Hernandez, a cherished student whose life was tragically cut short in a fatal rollover crash late Sunday night in Winkler County, Texas.
In a statement issued Monday, Wink-Loving ISD confirmed Teagan's identification and conveyed great grief for her death.
The school said, "Our hearts are heavy." "We are mourning the death of one of our students after a horrible vehicle accident, and a few more pupils are under examination for several damages."
The district said that counselors will be accessible on-site for staff and pupils to help those impacted and asked for secrecy, empathy, and prayers for the families as they negotiate the days ahead.
For those who want to provide support by bringing food, beverages, or contributions, the district said that Teagan's family will assemble at the Wink Community Center, 308 NW 2nd St., Wink, Texas 79789. Visitors are urged to sign the spiral notebook in the kitchen denoting what they brought; the front door will still be open.
Investigating the accident is the Texas Department of Public Safety. Officials said that no photos or more information would be made public and cleared the area around 3:50 a.m. The inquiry is still in progress.
Teagan Hernandez is remembered for the light, love, and happiness brought into the lives of family, friends, colleagues, and educators. Though Teagan's life was much too brief, the effect will be felt forever in the school and throughout the whole neighborhood.
Teagan, rest in everlasting peace; you will never be forgotten.
