Authorities in Powhatan County, Virginia, have arrested Cody Travis Mulchi, 31, in connection with the fatal stabbing of his mother, Melissa Ann Seamster, 52, over the weekend. The tragic incident unfolded on Saturday evening at the 2000 block of Red Lane Road, prompting a swift response from deputies following reports of a domestic assault.
When law enforcement arrived, they found Seamster with severe stab wounds. Deputies immediately performed CPR, but tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident also left a second adult male injured, who was airlifted to a nearby hospital by MedFlight and is currently listed in stable condition.
Investigators reported that after the attack, Mulchi fled to a neighboring residence, leading to a brief standoff before he was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and later booked into the Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond.
