Chloe Bishop, 17, Killed in Ashwaubenon Drunk Driving Crash; Father Injured

The collision occurred around 5 p.m. on January 30 at the busy intersection of Lombardi Avenue and Holmgren Way, according to Ashwaubenon Public Safety. Authorities said Chloe Bishop, 17, was riding as a passenger in a sedan driven by her father, Danny Bishop, 45, of Green Bay, when their vehicle was hit. Chloe suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Danny Bishop remains hospitalized, with family members saying he is fighting to recover.

Witnesses reported that Douglas James Proehl, 69, of Luxemburg, was traveling eastbound on Lombardi Avenue when he ran a red light and slammed into the Bishops’ vehicle as it turned south onto Holmgren Way. Proehl showed signs of intoxication and was arrested at the scene for operating while intoxicated.

Proehl was booked into the Brown County Jail on a requested charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, though formal charges were still pending as of early February. He also received a citation for refusing a chemical test, which triggered a notice of driver’s license revocation under Wisconsin’s implied consent law.
