A horrific sledding accident in Frisco has taken Elizabeth "Lizzy" Angle, a sixteen-year-old student at Wakeland High School, and left another youngster grievously wounded. Authorities validated Braxton Tucker, a 16-year-old boy, with manslaughter in relation to the event.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Frisco police were sent to the intersection of Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court. Two 16-year-old girls with life-threatening wounds were discovered by responding officers, who then started life-saving treatments.

Both victims were taken to the hospital. While Gracie Brito, the second victim, is still in critical condition, Elizabeth Angle died later from her injuries.

Investigators' Reports on What Happened

Frisco police say investigators found the girls were sledding behind a Jeep Wrangler driven by Tucker. According to witness accounts, the sled struck a curb before careening toward a tree.


Police say the Denton County District Attorney's Office is assisting with the ongoing inquiry.

Although Frisco police initially withheld the victims' names because of their ages, their families subsequently recognized them. All three adolescents involved attend Wakeland High School; both Elizabeth Angle and Gracie Brito are 16 years old. Elizabeth was a sophomore.

The daughter of Megan and Brian Angle, Elizabeth Angle is remembered as a smart, compassionate, and vivacious young lady who touched many lives.

Her mother, Megan Taylor Angle, wrote in a statement:

Brian and I inform the passing of our gorgeous 16-year-old daughter, Elizabeth Marie Angle, with great anguish and profound shock. She was a courageous soul, a fun spirit, a brilliant light. Having recently received a car and a license, she had ahead of her her entire life. Everything vanished so suddenly in a sledding disaster. Life is temporary and valuable. We will never forget how much love she brought to our family; we will never be the same.
