California Headlines – Motorcyclist Braxton Aldama Dies Suddenly in Lakeside Accident, Suspect Arrested
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 24-year-old motorcyclist died late Sunday night after a major accident on Winter Gardens Boulevard in Lakeside.
Around 10:32 p.m. on Sunday, the catastrophic accident happened on 9594 Winter Gardens Boulevard in the region between Greek Chicken and Innovation High School. According to investigators, the motorcyclist was headed eastbound when he hit a car leaving the farthest driveway exit along the highway.
CHP officials named the victim as 24-year-old Braxton Aldama, an East County resident and graduate of Granite Hills High School. At the collision, Aldama was traveling a black motorcycle.
Authorities claimed the motorcycle slammed against a black 2010 Toyota Prius piloted by a lady leaving a adjacent company driveway. Pronounced dead at the scene, Aldama sustained mortal injuries.
Though officials have not yet disclosed the exact accusations or whether impairment was a consideration, the Prius's driver was detained. The collision's cause and mechanism still under study.
Following the collision, Winter Gardens Boulevard was shut in both directions for a few hours as police examined the scene. As evidence, both cars were towed away.
The California Highway Patrol is still looking into the collision and asks anyone who may have seen it to come forward.
Braxton Aldama's passing is another sad loss on regional highways. Friends and family members said he was someone who adored motorbikes and usually quoted the proverb: “If you want to be happy for a lifetime, ride a motorcycle.”
