Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr., 33, of Channelview, Texas, who sadly passed away on January 28, 2026, has been recognized by authorities as the victim in a deadly shooting.
Joseph Plattenburg, born August 7, 1984, and Jordyn Wells, born March 18, 1998, were detained in connection with Gonzalez's death, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Investigators say the suspects shot Gonzalez during an argument about money. Plattenburg and Wells both face murder charges and were booked into Harris County Jail.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office ascribed the fast development of the case to homicide investigators and SWAT's quick and thorough investigative work, which resulted in arrests.
Jorge will be most remembered first and foremost for the life he led and the love he shared, apart from the terrible events of his death.
Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr. was a loving father, son, brother, and friend. Houston sports teams were his passion, and his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and close friends. Renowned for his laughter, loyalty, and huge heart, Jorge added light and warmth to every place he went. His affection was openly given, and his absence creates a vacuum incalculable in the life of everyone who knew him.
Surviving him are his cherished son, Jorge "LJ" Arturo Gonzalez III; his parents, Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Sr. (Beatriz) and Misty Bartolomei (Jorge); his sisters Amber Castro (Rick), Ashleigh Champagne (John), Alex Gonzalez, and Adriana Gonzalez; and brother Arturo Gonzalez.
Jorge also leaves behind his nephews, Caden Champagne, Mason Champagne, and Enrique Castro; his great-niece, Mariela Cantu; and his grandma, Peggy Stansbury (Dan); and his cherished nieces, Angelina Gonzalez (Cesar), Anabella Doria, Melina Guzman, Mackenzie Guzman, and Maddix Tackitt.
All who loved Jorge would miss him very much and always remember him.
Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003, will provide visitation services. From 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, visitation is scheduled.
