ATLANTA, GA — A GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $100,000 to support WWE referee Aja Smith, also known as Daphanie LaShaunn, after a devastating house fire claimed the lives of four of her family members.
The fire broke out late on February 4, 2026, killing Smith’s grandmother, grandfather, uncle, and cousin, according to both Smith’s Instagram post and the fundraiser page organized by Jasmine Ivey of Atlanta. Smith shared her grief online, writing: “My heart aches. Last night I lost my grandma, grandpa, uncle, and cousin in a house fire. … Planning 4 funerals and rebuilding is gonna be tough.”
Smith also noted that her cousin and her cousin’s five children survived the blaze but were left homeless and without possessions. The fundraiser, titled “Support for Funeral Costs and Family Recovery,” seeks donations to cover funeral expenses, memorials, and essentials such as clothing, housing, and school supplies for the children, ages 1 to 11: Deyonna, 10; Derriona, 11; Messiah, 7; Nevaeh, 3; and Noah, 1.
The tragedy has prompted an outpouring of support from the wrestling community and beyond. WWE stars including Liv Morgan and Bayley donated $5,000 each, while others offered condolences and shared Smith’s campaign to amplify awareness. Fans and fellow performers have rallied to provide financial and emotional support, underscoring the strength of the wrestling community in times of crisis.
As of Friday, the campaign had surpassed its initial goal, raising over $100,000. The donations reflect both the widespread sympathy for Smith’s loss and the collective desire to help her family recover from the devastating fire.
Smith, who has worked as a referee for WWE since 2020, is widely respected for her professionalism and dedication. Her colleagues and supporters have emphasized that she has always given her best to the sport, and now the community is giving back to her in her time of need.
The incident remains under investigation, but for Smith and her family, the focus is on mourning their loved ones and rebuilding their lives. The fundraiser continues to accept donations, with organizers stressing that every contribution helps provide stability and hope for the surviving children.
🕊️ May comfort and strength surround Aja Smith and her family as they navigate this unimaginable loss, and may the memories of those who perished bring light in the midst of grief.
