With much grief and heavy hearts, we commemorate and celebrate the life of Maria Mendoza, a 57-year-old lady Grandview, Washington, whose life was tragically taken in a deadly accident on Interstate 182 close Pasco. Her unexpected death has left an unmeasurable emptiness in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone else who knew her; a life full of love, strength, and purpose cut short too far soon.

Maria Mendoza Grandview, WA Car Accident

The Washington State Patrol says the horrific accident took place on Friday along the eastbound lanes of I-182 near mile marker 12, just outside the Pasco city boundary. According to authorities, Maria was going east when another vehicle westbound lost control. Driven by an 18-year-old, the westbound automobile left the road, overturned the cable barrier, and crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting Maria's car with terrible force.

At the scene, Maria was discovered dead. The Washington State Patrol verified that next of kin were advised, and detectives later concluded the accident to be a DUI-related collision with narcotics or alcohol contributing. Beyond the street, the repercussions of this pointless deed permanently changed the life of Maria's lovers.

After the accident, eastbound lanes of I-182 were totally blocked as authorities examined the scene, rerouting traffic via Exit 12; westbound traffic was reduced to one lane. Authorities predicted being on scene for a long time during the investigation, thus drivers were instructed to stay away from the area and take alternative routes such the eastbound 20th Avenue exit.

Beyond the formal pronouncements and traffic warnings is a lot more terrible truth: the death of Maria Mendoza. She was a beloved family member, a friend, and a presence whose life had great significance; she was not just a crash victim. At age 57, Maria had a lifetime of memories, love, and experiences that will always be remembered by those who knew her.

Her passing reminds us painfully of the terrible results of drunk driving. One careless choice destroyed a family and took a life, therefore upsetting a neighborhood to mourn a loss that should never have occurred.

Maria Mendoza is remembered now for the life she lived—the love she gave, the kindness she shared, and the heritage she leaves behind—rather than for the loss that claimed her life. May her memory be honored, her narrative kept alive, and her loved ones surrounded by solace and fortitude at this incredibly sad period.
