CARVILLE, LA — The community of Carville and Ascension Parish is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Craig Burns, 28, who died following an early morning motorcycle crash on Louisiana Highway 30 in Geismar.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. Friday. Burns was riding a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, traveling eastbound on La. 30, when a 2015 Toyota Corolla attempted to turn west onto the highway from a private road and pulled directly into his path.
Investigators said the motorcycle struck the driver’s side front fender and door of the Corolla. Burns, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Toyota Corolla was unrestrained during the crash but was not injured. Authorities have not released further details, and the investigation remains ongoing.
For several hours Friday morning, traffic along Highway 30 was slowed as troopers worked the scene and cleared debris. The collision has sparked renewed concern about roadway safety in Ascension Parish, where busy highways often see heavy commuter traffic.
Burns’ sudden passing has left family, friends, and loved ones devastated. He is remembered as a young man whose life was tragically cut short, leaving behind memories of joy, laughter, and connection. Those close to him described him as someone who lived with energy and passion, and whose presence brought warmth to those around him.
Community members have expressed grief and sympathy, offering prayers and support to Burns’ family during this difficult time. His death serves as a painful reminder of the risks faced by motorcyclists, even when protective gear is worn, and underscores the importance of vigilance among all drivers.
As investigators continue to review the circumstances of the crash, the focus remains on honoring Burns’ life and supporting his loved ones. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
🕊️ May Craig Burns rest in peace, and may comfort and strength surround his family during this incredibly difficult time.
