Lucy Harrison, 23, Fatally Shot in Texas

Lucy Harrison, of Warrington, Cheshire, was staying with her father, Kris Harrison, in Prosper, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, when the shooting occurred on January 10, 2025. Lucy, a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University, had been visiting the United States with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, and the couple was preparing to return to the U.K. on the day of the incident.

During proceedings at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, Littler testified that the morning began with a heated discussion about U.S. politics, specifically concerning then-President Donald Trump. The conversation escalated into what he described as a “big argument,” leaving Lucy visibly upset before she went upstairs.

According to witness testimony and police accounts presented at the inquest, approximately 30 minutes before the couple was scheduled to leave for the airport, Kris Harrison allegedly led his daughter into his ground-floor bedroom and showed her a Glock 9mm handgun that was stored in a bedside cabinet. Authorities reported that Lucy was shot once in the chest at what was described as “medium range.” She collapsed in the bedroom doorway.

Investigators stated that Kris Harrison told them he did not recall whether his finger was on the trigger at the time of the shooting. Testimony also indicated that he had been drinking prior to the incident.

Following a police review, a Texas grand jury declined to indict Kris Harrison on criminal charges, according to documents referenced during the U.K. inquest. The case has since drawn attention both in Britain and the United States, particularly amid ongoing discussions surrounding gun ownership, political divisions, and domestic disputes.

Lucy Harrison is remembered by loved ones as a bright and ambitious young woman whose life was cut tragically short. The inquest proceedings aim to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death.
