Authorities in Pennsylvania have confirmed the tragic deaths of Kevin Crockett, 35, and Ashley Rice, 38, in an apartment in Watts Township over the weekend. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers from the Newport station were dispatched around 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, after reports of a serious incident at a residence along Susquehanna Trail. Upon arrival, officers discovered both individuals deceased.
Investigators believe the deaths resulted from a domestic dispute. Preliminary findings indicate that Ashley Rice died from a gunshot wound, and Kevin Crockett subsequently took his own life in what is being treated as an apparent murder-suicide.
The Pennsylvania State Police Major Case Team, along with the Newport Criminal Investigation Unit, assisted in securing the scene, collecting evidence, and conducting interviews. The Perry County Coroner responded to the location, and the Perry County District Attorney’s Office has been consulted throughout the investigation.
Officials have confirmed that the next of kin have been notified. While the incident appears to stem from a domestic conflict, investigators are continuing to review evidence, and authorities stress that the investigation remains active. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
The Watts Township community is grappling with this shocking loss, and law enforcement urges residents to respect the privacy of the families during this difficult time.
