Highway 63 Fatal Crash: Rochester Man Daniel Schandorff Identified by Authorities

ROCHESTER, MN — Authorities have identified Daniel Victor Schandorff, 48, of Stewartville, as the victim of a fatal traffic crash Thursday night near Rochester International Airport.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision occurred around 9:45 p.m. on February 5, 2026, when Schandorff was driving a van northbound on Highway 63. Near the intersection with 80th Street Southeast, his vehicle collided with a northbound semi‑truck hauling freight.

Officials reported that Schandorff was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi‑truck driver, identified as Jack Lieffort, 55, of Grand Meadow, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Investigators confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
