Late Friday evening, Cayden Callihan, an 18-year-old from North Carolina who perished in a horrific two-car accident in Livingston Parish, was mourned by family and community.
Louisiana State Police stated that troopers arrived around midnight to investigate the scene at the junction of LA 1032 and Hunter's Way. Arriving, they found a collision between a 2008 Honda Accord and a 2022 Ford F-150.
Investigators found Cayden going east on Hunter's Way as he approached LA 1032. The Ford F-150 was going south on LA 1032 at the same time. Cayden tried to turn left onto LA 1032, into the path of the approaching truck, for reasons still unknown. The Ford hit the Honda on its left side.
State police confirmed that both drivers were correctly strapped at the moment of the accident. Cayden was declared dead at the site after suffering serious injuries. The Ford F-150 driver suffered minor wounds.
The inquiry into the accident is still under process.
Cayden is remembered not only for the events of his death but also for the life he lived and the future regrettably snatched too soon as loved ones mourn. His death serves as a devastating reminder of the fragility of life; prayers and thoughts are with his family and all those grieving his death.
