Perth Horror: Maiwenna Goasdowe and Her Two Children Murdered — Full Story

The four members of a family discovered dead in what police think was a double murder-suicide at a property in Mosman Park, one of Perth's wealthiest riverfront suburbs, have been officially identified by the authorities.

Maiwenna Goasdowe Death

The dead have been identified as 49-year-old Maiwenna Goasdowe; her boyfriend, 50-year-old Jarrod Clune; and their two boys, Leon, 16, and Otis, 14. Early Friday morning, emergency responders were summoned to the family's home on Mott Close after worries about the well-being of those inside the home were raised.

Arriving officers found four corpses on the house. The scene was quickly secured; murder detectives were given command of the investigation.

Consistent with a possible double murder-suicide, Western Australia Police have characterised the deaths as suspicious and are handling the case as domestic. Researchers, meanwhile, have underlined that early stage investigations continue.

Police have said that limited information will be made public while the inquiry goes on; detectives are diligently rebuilding the events leading up to the deaths. Officials have also confirmed there is no current threat to the general public.

The heartbreaking revelation has stunned Mosman Park, a neighborhood noted for its tree-lined streets, proximity to the Swan River, and strong sense of community. As word of the fatalities spread, inhabitants said they felt shocked and devastated.

Many neighbors stated the family was somewhat famous locally, so the death struck especially personal. Flowers and condolences were apparently left around the residence in the days after the finding as neighbors quietly gathered to show their respects.

With specialized units aiding to evaluate evidence inside the home, police are still at the scene performing forensic investigations. To get a greater sense of the family's current circumstances, investigators are also interviewing friends, coworkers, school communities related to Leon and Otis, as well as members of their wider family.

Standard practice includes the creation of a report for the coroner, who eventually defines the official cause and manner of death. The deaths have had a deep effect outside the local surroundings.

Among those impacted are teachers, students, and employees at the two teenage boys' schools, therefore assistance services have been provided. Community members and first responders attending the scene are also being given counseling and well-being materials.
