The Monroe neighborhood grieves with great grief and heavy hearts the terrible death of Jadah Aeriona, whose life was stolen far too young in a terrible act of violence early this morning. Jadah's death has left an incomprehensible hole in the lives of her loved ones and a society now struggling with shock, sorrow, and unanswered questions.
The Monroe Police Department reports that around 2:30 a.m. officers answered a call for a shot in the 100 block of GW Carver Drive. They found an adult woman with deadly bullet wounds when they got there. Jadah Aeriona was declared dead at the scene despite attempts at emergency response. During the same occurrence, an adult male also sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where he is getting medical care.
Under ongoing inquiry, this terrible event is being investigated by police officers hard to ascertain all the facts around the shooting. Officials have not yet provided more information, stressing the need of a comprehensive and meticulous inquiry to guarantee justice is done.
Beyond the terrible circumstances of her death, Jadah Aeriona was a friend, a loved one, a daughter, and a beacon in the lives of those who knew her, not just a victim. Her life was significant. Her visions were significant. Those she leaves behind will always treasure the love she offered and the memories she made. No family should have to live through the grief of such a rapid and violent death.
The Monroe Police Department is encouraging anyone with knowledge to come forward as detectives keep their search going. Authority's efforts to compile what transpired and provide clarity and responsibility to this case may depend mostly on community collaboration. Anyone with knowledge on this event is urged to call Detective Mitch Studdard at 678-283-5422 or Sergeant Josh Reynolds at 770-652-0612. Even the tiniest aspect could have a significant impact.
