Following a massive police operation that locked down a number of Ipswich streets on Wednesday afternoon, a man has been arrested. The event set off an emergency declaration and seriously hampered traffic and local life as officers searched for an allegedly armed man.
First called to Jones Road in Bellbird Park at about 2:30 p.m. following reports of a man presumed to be armed, police arrived. In answer, authorities promptly heightened the situation, issuing an emergency declaration to guarantee public safety throughout the search.
As a safety measure, residents of Redbank Plains Road, Jansen Road, and Jones Road, as well as Johnston Street, were told to remain in their homes.
