Teen Emmelia Miller Dies in Winter Weather

Though much too short, Emmelia's life touched the hearts of her friends, family, and everyone around her. People who knew her characterize her as a bright young woman with compassion, promise, and a brilliant attitude. Those who loved her and the community that accepted her will sorely miss her laugh, warmth, and presence.

A Lexus sedan driven by Emmelia and a Dodge pickup truck were involved in the incident that happened at about 10:15 p.m. The Iowa State Patrol believes that the collision was caused in part by slick and unsafe road conditions. Emmelia sadly died at the site from her wounds, leaving behind friends and family members struggling with the grief and shock of her unexpected death.

Besides Emmelia, two others were involved in the crash. At a nearby hospital James Lyman, 26, is healing from injuries sustained in an accident. Ashlyn Hotchkiss, 24, escaped major injury. Morgan Anderson, 20, the Dodge pickup's driver, emerged unscathed.

The Iowa State Patrol has launched an continuing inquiry on the collision to better grasp the events including road conditions and other elements that may have contributed.

Although the particulars of the tragedy are really terrible, the emphasis is on honoring Emmelia's life and work. Her loved ones and friends are holding on to the memories, love, and influence she had on others around her. The people still gather around her loved ones in this tough time to show compassion, prayers, and help.

Emmelia's death serves as a sober reminder of the frailty of life, particularly in difficult circumstances, and the need to value every minute spent with loved ones. Though her time was far too brief, everyone who knew her would treasure her memory in their hearts.
