 Following injuries sustained in a terrible snowmobile mishap, Devon C. Elliott, 52, of Diamond, Illinois, died suddenly on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Wisconsin.As they mourn the death of a loving father, diligent friend, dedicated husband, his sudden death has left his friends, coworkers, family, and the people he worked for deeply devastated.

Devon Elliott passes away in Wisconsin

Born in Joliet, Illinois, on December 18, 1973, to Charles H. “Chuck” Elliott and Lorene C. (née Hahn) Elliott, Devon.He was born locally and received Coal City High School graduation in the Class of 1992.Devon's great work ethic, reliability, and readiness to help—traits that would shape both his personal life and professional career—were well known from early on.

Devon joined Elliott Electric after graduating from high school and becoming an electrician with IBEW Local 176, following a career in the electrical industry.He loved going to work every day and took great pleasure in his job.Devon, an early riser by birth, could usually be found going toward the shop before dawn prepared to face the day ahead.Always ready to assist others, whether on the job site or in his personal life, he believed in providing 100 percent on every job.Both coworkers and customers alike came to respect his dependability, reliability, and honesty.

Devon married the love of his life, Tracy Bentson, in a lovely wedding on her family's land in Morris on September 12, 2015.Together, they developed a life grounded in family, laughter, and love.Devon was first of all a dedicated spouse and very proud father to his five kids.His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family; every moment he spent with them he loved.

Among his small group of friends, Devon was affectionately known as "Devo," and he felt very strongly for friendship and kept close relationships with those closest to him.He savored a bourbon and great chat after long days of grueling effort.He was a passionate supporter of Coal City Wrestling in his free time and generously donated back to the community by assisting coach the Lil’ Coalers youngsters wrestling team, mentoring young athletes both on and off the mat.

Ten-year spouse Tracy Elliott; parents, Chuck and Lorene Elliott; children, Brandon, Korynne, and Coleton Elliott, and Ava and Noah Houston; brothers, Shane (Jen) Elliott, Rory Elliott, Ian (Jill) Elliott, and Colin (Melanie) Elliott; parents-in-law, Doug and Sal Bentson; sisters-in-law Nicole (Brian) Jones and Holly (Mike Mueller) Bentson; godparents, Kathie Barney and Ray Rogina; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends are among Devon's survivors.

Anne (Bob) Wood, Leroy "Bud" Hahn, and Charles and Lena Elliott were ahead of him in death.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, Illinois.Following the visitation will be cremation rites.
