Middle child of Eduardo Tapia and Maria Rodriguez, Joanna was born on June 13, 2000 in Arlington Heights, Illinois.She possessed a quiet power and warmth that naturally attracted others from an early age.She possessed a compassionate heart, a kind nature, and a contagious smile that might bright even the most challenging days.Joanna, the "middle child," readily juggled roles—providing advice, comedy, and affection to those nearby while quietly anchoring her family with her presence.

Proud Bradley University Class of 2023 graduate Joanna chased her vocation in teaching with passion and direction.She next taught Talcott Elementary School for the Chicago Public School District as a special education elementary school instructor.Joanna's work was more of a mirror of her than a job.Approaching teaching with patience, empathy, and great compassion, she fiercely supported her students and celebrated every little accomplishment with them.She was more than a teacher; she was also a refuge and motivator for her pupils.She was respected among her coworkers for her commitment, upbeat attitude, and sincere care for other people.

Love and promise permeated Joanna's personal life.She started dating her fiance Chase Luther during her college years and she was recently engaged.Their relationship started on laughter, mutual respect, friendship, and common future plans.Dreams of a life filled with love, service, and joy they had together will now live on in their hearts and memories for those who knew them.

Joanna's life revolved around her family.She is survived by her devoted parents, Eduardo Tapia and Maria Rodriguez; her larger-than-life older brother, Eduardo Tapia (Marilyn Sanchez); and her cherished younger sister, Cynthia Tapia, affectionately dubbed “the sun to her moon.”Joanna had a strong and unique connection with her siblings based on unflagging support, common memories, and unconditional love.

She is also survived by her beloved abuelos, Javier Tapia and Adela Ramos, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who deeply loved her.Joanna's grandparents, Antonio Rodriguez and Reina Camacho, who had a close relationship to her heart, passed away before her.

Joanna will be remembered for her compassion, her kindness, and her capacity to make others feel seen, respected, and loved.Though heartbreakingly short, her life was meaningful, devoted, and loving—traits that will keep on rippling across the several lives she influenced.
