Authorities are looking into a fatal two-vehicle accident that happened Saturday afternoon on West Ridge Road at Elmgrove Road.
According police, the collision occurred at about 1 p.m. when a westbound car collided with another westbound car parked at a red light.At the scene, the sole occupant of the stunning car, the driver, was said dead.He was discovered thereafter as Craig Cavallaro, a much-liked husband and father.
According to police, serious injuries the driver and passenger of the car stopped at the light sustained were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.A dog passed away in the collision as well, said a statement circulated by the North Greece Professional Firefighters Local 3827.
Among the injured survivors is Riesen Kimmerly, who is still in critical state at Strong Memorial Hospital.A truck moving fast rear-ended Kimmerly and her partner, Tyler.Both had suffered traumatic head injuries and several shattered bones.In the collision, Monty, their three-month-old dog, perished.
Medical reports show Kimberly is sedated and on a ventilator as doctors treat a collapsed lung, a brain hemorrhage, arterial tears in her neck, and several major fractures involving her hip, shoulder, and skull.She has had operations and is undergoing much tests and therapy as doctors try to stabilize her condition.
Tributes have come in for Craig Cavallaro, who loved ones remember as a hardworking, motivated guy whose life revolved around his family, as the probe goes on.Friends assert every deed he did was for his wife, Kell, and their two small sons.Described as a proud husband, an amazing father, and someone who always gave family first priority.
Craig was also noted for his upbeat demeanor; he always smiles, laughs, and makes people feel welcomed.Whether playing, practicing, coaching, or cheering them on, his passion of sports was something he intimately shared with his sons.Friends claim his biggest want would be for his kids to keep doing what they enjoy and to cling to happiness and normalcy notwithstanding this catastrophe.
Stay-at-home mother Kell is now confronted with the terrible truth of raising their children without her partner while also balancing burial expenses, home expenses, and everyday living costs that Craig had worked tirelessly to provide.
The catastrophe is still under ongoing investigation.As they investigate the circumstances of the crash, police have not disclosed any further information.
