SPRINGFIELD, MO — A late-night shooting near the intersection of Kimbrough Avenue and Elm Street has claimed the life of 22-year-old Brandon Watts, marking Springfield’s second homicide of 2026, according to police.
Officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at 11:51 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, they found Watts suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Watts’ family has been notified, and the department has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
